Alamo’s ‘First Lady’ Calls and History Buffs Gather - NYTimes.com: The fall of the Alamo on March 6, 1836, is observed each year by a candlelit remembrance in downtown San Antonio. The party is held at the San Antonio home of Joan Headley, the executive director of Rebuilding Together San Antonio, a nonprofit.
